Gigglewise is used by children. We treat their data as sensitive even where the law does not require us to, and several choices below cost us something we decided not to take.
| What | Why | Kept for |
|---|---|---|
| Parent name, email, password | Signing in and family membership | Until the account is deleted |
| Child display name, birth year, stage | Showing an age-appropriate experience | Until deleted |
| Child username and PIN | Letting a child sign in without an email address | Until deleted |
| Responsibilities and completion history | This is the product | Until deleted |
| How often a reminder was needed | Showing whether a chore is becoming a habit | Until deleted |
| Allowance and ledger entries | Keeping an accurate record of what is owed | Until deleted |
| Savings and growth goals | This is the product | Until deleted |
| Reflection answers | A child’s weekly look back, in their own words | Until deleted |
| Coaching conversations | Answering the question being asked | Deleted after 90 days |
| Optional notes or photos as proof | Showing a job was done | Deleted after 90 days |
| Record of who approved what | So “approved by Mum” is answerable later | Until deleted |
Passwords and PINs are never stored as text. They are hashed, which means we cannot read them or recover them for you — only replace them.
There is no analytics SDK in either app — no Mixpanel, Amplitude, Segment, FullStory or equivalent. No advertising SDK, no retargeting pixel, no cross-app identifier, no crash reporter. Product decisions are made from the data the app already needs to work at all.
We do not sell personal information and we do not share it for advertising. There is no commercial arrangement under which we could.
We ask for no location, contacts, microphone or camera permissions. We do not ask for a child’s email address — a child takes part without one. We store a birth year, never a full birth date, because a year is enough to choose an age band.
Your family’s data is stored in Google Cloud and is not shared with other companies for their own purposes. Two services process data on our behalf, and only for the job named:
Coaching is optional. If it is never used, nothing is ever sent to Anthropic.
A parent can see and change everything about their child’s account, and actions that matter are gated behind a parent confirming it is really them. Reflection answers are a child’s own words, and how visible they are is a setting a parent chooses deliberately rather than a default we picked.
You can ask us to delete your family’s account and everything in it by writing to hello@gigglewise.com from the address the account uses. Deletion removes the data; it is not a soft-delete that leaves it lying around. Backups roll off on their own schedule and are never used to bring an account back.
Accounts are created by a parent, not by a child. A child cannot sign themselves up, cannot invite anyone, and cannot make their information public — there is nothing public in Gigglewise to make it public to. If you believe a child has an account without a parent’s involvement, write to us and we will remove it.
If this policy changes in a way that affects what we collect or who receives it, we will say so in the app rather than quietly updating this page.
